Objective:The purpose of the study is to compare the symmetry in mid face of adult males in Liaoning province and provide basic data for maxillofacial surgery, oral orthodontic, cosmetic and anthropological research.Methods:60 normal adults(30 males and 30 females) were randomly selected, and CT was applied to reconstruct the three-dimensional model. Then landmarks on the bone of mid face was identified by VG Studio 2.2 MAX software,at the end,the WinEDMA 1.0.1 software was used to compare the difference in the mid face. The non parameter bootstrap test was used in statistical analysis. Results:As found in EDMA,there were significant differences between the left and right sides of the mid face in adults in Liaoning. As for the males, the non parameter bootstrap test showed T=1.432,P=0.001.For the female, the non parameter bootstrap test showed T=1.396,P=0.001.Conclusion:The mid face on male and female adults in Liaoning is observably asymmetric. When we do cosmetic surgery or craniofacial reconstruction the characteristics should be taken into consideration.
